The Kefine Quatio is the first in their hybrid series IEM and it features a combination of 2 units of dual Balanced armature drivers, a single DLC and a PU+LCP dynamic drivers. Despite the Quatio is being positioned as a flagship product, the price, it is placed in a mid-entry price range. The accessory package also reflects a higher-tier product, in the box it comes with 3 pairs of different tuning of nozzle, a thick cable with a interchangeable headphones jack connector, 12 pairs of eartips neatly stored in a plastic box and a leather case that comfortably fits the earphones.



When it comes to sound, the Quatio delivers a presentation that does not disappoint. Overall it delivers a fairly balanced tonality presentation, making it very versatile to most music genre. The musical details are well defined, musical instruments are accurately presented with distinguishable layerings without sounding congested. Soundstage is wide with good depth presentation for its price. Driving the Quatio is effortless it reaches comfortable volumes even with something as modest as the Apple USB-C dongle, though pairing it with a cleaner DAC further elevates the listening experience.



Bass response is another strength. With a proper seal, the Quatio produces forward, well-controlled low end that extends deep with a satisfying rumble, keeping the listening experience fun without overwhelming the mids. The midrange itself is lush and engaging, carrying warmth that gives male vocals richness and female vocals a sweet, expressive character. Importantly, the higher mids remain smooth and free from harshness, ensuring clarity without any fatigue The treble, while smooth and airy, does show a bit of roll-off at the top end, which slightly limits its sparkle. Still, it remains non-fatiguing and provides just enough shimmer to keep the overall experience lively.


In summary, the Kefine Quatio with its fairly balanced tuning and decent sound staging presentation it strikes as a strong contender of a value buy in the mid-entry IEM market for those who are looking for a more refined listening experience.

Philips SHP895 Repair - RIP..

This is a rather old headphones, it have more than 10 years of history and today, it came into my mailbox requesting to be refurbished. It's a open semi opened back headphones, the back gill is made from metal, some rust can be seen on it, I guess this is more of a budget headphones. The band made from plastic and there are some hairline cracks on it. This headphones sure does been through quite alot of stuffs. The owner claims that the drivers are not producing any more sounds and have been left aside for quite sometime. A simple continuity with a multi meter shows that the 3.5mm-2.5mm detachable cable still is good shape. There are some jiggling sounds when I am moving around with the headphones, which means there are something is not in the right place. This can be really bad. Time to open up the driver to get a quick look inside: Looks like a total disaster inside, the neodymium magnet fell off the driver unit and stick itself to the headphones back grill....
