RHA L1 DAC AMP mini XLR pinout

Image
Recently I had a chance to work on an adapter to convert 4 pin mini XLR to 4.4mm balanced connector. After the adapter is completed, I noticed that the audio out from RHA L1 with the adapter sounded mono so I bring this question to RHA support team. It seems that RHA had swapped the negative pin for right and left on their L1 DAC AMP. Here's the correct pinout, huge shoutout to RHA support team who's kind enough to provide the pinout configuration in the form of image. Pinout: Pin 1: L+ Pin 2: R- Pin 3: R+ Pin 4: L-

XiaoMi Wiha Screwdriver Set. 1 set to rule them all?

Image
If you are a person who loves to DIY, most of the time you would prefer your devices to be repairable and upgradeable. However due to most of the manufacturer hardware designs, most of them are hardly repairable due to the complexity of the hardware and not to mention the implementation of specially designed screw bits. So if you really want to get into your devices, you probably want to get your hands on one of these multi screw bits screwdriver set. Today here we have one from XiaoMi, the Mi x Wiha screwdriver set. Some of you out there may recognize the brand Wiha. It is one of the most reputable hand tools manufacturer from Germany. So when Mi collaborate with them to create a screwdriver set. I get quite excited to check them out. (Warranty notice for screwdriver set? That's rather interesting)  The Mi x Wiha screwdriver casing is really well made from a solid aluminum piece of metal which have the similar design to the XiaoMi 1st generation power bank, and the best part of it...

Final E1000 - Underated Budget Earphones?

Image
S'Next Final previously known as Final Audio Design makes quite a few of high end audio devices in the past and entry level market is hardly being their focus. However few years ago, they begin to release a few earphones in the entry level market price range. They have the Adagio II and Heaven II in the past, but these 2 entry level IEMs have a very distinct audio signature that not many could accept. Moving forward to 2018 they released the E series, starting with the E3000, E2000 and later on, the E1000. This caught many audiophile eyes as it is priced at a really competitive price of RM128. Specifications: Housing: ABS Plastic Driver: 6.4mm dynamic Cable: Oxygen-free copper Sensitivity: 102db/mW Impedance: 16 Ohm Weight: 15g Cable length: 1.2m Official Website:  https://snext-final.com/en/products/detail/E1000 The E1000 package comes with total of 5 pairs of silicone eartips. Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro Repair

Image
Today for in our work station, we have an old top of the line Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro headphones. This headphones is used to be the flagship model of the Beyerdynamic DT line up, way before Beyerdynamic introduce their Tesla drivers. Before working on the headphones, I had a test drive with it with my desktop setup. This headphones have a great soundstage and tons of lows but I personally don't quite like it's spiking mid-highs though. One might describe it as a well improved DT770 pro. Due to it's old age, it's 3.5mm connector gold plating had worn off and the internal connection is loose. To fix this, we will need to replace the 3.5mm connector. After stripping the cable PVC sleeve we can see it has 3 internal wiring and this reminds me that amazingly at this price point, Beyerdynamic opt to use cables that have PVC coating for the internal wiring which most headphones at this price or even higher doesn't have this. The internal wiring is colored as ...

Dell Vostro 5481 Review

Image
Historically speaking, Dell hasn't really putting much effort to their design on their machines especially for the lower end line up. The flagship XPS lineup looks great and performs great, but for the other series like the Inspiron and the Vostro lineup design is usually quite dull. During the late 2018, Dell had launched a few new models to the Inspiron and Vostro lineup and this time around, it seems that Dell had really put some effort to make these 2 series looks way better than the last model, especially for the Vostro 5481 . Tech Specification 8th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-8265U Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.9 GHz, 4 cores) (Whiskey Lake) 4GB DDR4 2666Mhz RAM NVIDIA® GeForce® MX130 with 2GB GDDR5 graphics memory 1TB 5400 rpm 2.5" SATA Hard Drive 14.0-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Anti-glare LED Backlight Non-touch Narrow Border IPS Display TPM 2.0 Overall the specs for this model is pretty standard for a mid-low tier machine. It is nice to see that Dell ...

ADATA UV131 32GB Flash Drive Review

Image
The ADATA UV131 USB Flash drive is a simple and great looking flash drive so far at it's price point. The whole drive body covered with zinc alloy material finishing in matte sleek dark grey color. Due to it's zinc alloy body it feels really sturdy and it should not rust over time, the cap-less design allows you to not worry about missing the cap over time and it have a hook for you to attach it with your keychain. Appearance aside, from the packaging it promotes that it is USB3.1 capable. In layman terms, it should USB3.1 should theoretically supports up to the 5Gbps. But we all know, at this price point, there is no way that this flash drive could go up to that speed. So here's the test result using Crystal Disk Mark: As expected, this flash drive performs averagely among other entry level flash drives in the market. People who usually buy this normally would not care much on the performance but they do care on the sturdiness, sleek design and the po...

Windows 10 USB3.0 Disconnect Fix

Image
The USB port is probably one of the best invention in the history of computing. It is simple to use, however due to some operating system configuration, it sometimes can be tricky. It happens when I upgrade my laptop, the laptop comes with multiple USB 3.0 ports. As usual, I plugged in my old trusty USB 2.0 hard disk and start transferring all my files into the new laptop. Because it have quite a bunch of files to transfer, naturally I let it sit over night to do it's job. When I wake up the next morning, I heard my laptop is making some sounds, apparently it is disconnecting and reconnecting my trusty external hard disk repeatedly. Fearing it may kill my hard disk, I immediately unplug it and try to look for a solution to this answer. I had tried many configuration and even formatting the PC, thinking that the laptop manufacturer may had included some USB power settings that may leads to this issue. However, it still doesn't fix it. Finally I came across the solution aft...
